Hello everyone, I use the Arca-Swiss style plates for my tripods and for my Canon DSLRs I have L-Brackets which are super convenient for switching from horizontal to vertical format quickly.

Does anyone know of any plate like this that would work for the Bronicas? Particularly the ETR-Si?

I couldn't find one for the Mamiya 645 Pro. However I did call Really Right Stuff and they sold me two bars and a right angle piece. I was a bit skeptical, but it is working great. I did need to do a few mods to it like putting some gaffers tape between the rail and the camera to stop twist. The bottom rail is long enough that I now can use the vertical rail as a left hand grip. So far it's worked great, and it is very rigid. So you may want to give that a try if you can't find one custom made for your camera.

This is an old thread. I am wondering if anyone has since found an l bracket solution for mounting a Bronica ETRS on its side on a tripod for verticals, with weight centred over the tripod head. RRS makes a plate for Bronicas, but not an L bracket. Two plates and general L bracket hardware from them costs more than an ETRS!

Hi Howard,

I bought the Sunwayfoto DPL-04 Universal L-Type Quick Release Plate from B&H and modified it for my Mamiya 645 Pro. The modification was to grind off the ridge at the back, drilled two holes for anti-rotation pins and cut out the piece in the vertical portion of the bracket. It works like a charm and the Sunwayfoto L-brackets aren't too expensive. Sunwayphoto has a few more universal models that might work better for the Bronica. The Sunwayfoto website provides mechanical drawings that are very helpful. I copied the DPL-04 drawing to MS Visio scaled it and printed it such that the drawing on paper was the exactly 1:1 so I could see how it would would work on the camera.

The anti-rotation pins are M4 headless socket bolts from Ottawa Fastener Supply. After I mounted the bolts, I filed down the thread so that it wouldn't cut into the plastic of the bottom plate of the Mamiya. Overall it turned out well and the whole setup it pretty sturdy. The Sunwayfoto brackets are made of a good quality aluminium.

If you need more info or would like to see the real thing, let me know.
