Yes, I know. It's a Kowa. But, I got a hold of one just to see what it's about, and to see what kind of images it produces. It's probably no different than most Kowas in that it has shutter lag problems. What's weird is that the shutter mirror and doors seem to work ok with the lens off (50mm 1.7), and working the separated lens shutter leaves back and forth on the lens alone, they seem to be moving well enough without any semblance of sticking. But when the lens is mounted, the shutter only fires when the lens is facing up or down, not in the normal picture-taking position. Aside from taking part one element or the other, does anyone have any idea or experience with this camera doing this? -BG

Kowa's have a light baffle, what seems to be a lag is the baffle moving out of the way before the shutter trips.

I think in my body, the mirror and light baffle seem to be working fine (with the lens off). It seems to be a lens problem, maybe something affected by the normal positioning of the camera, but not affected by pointing it ninety degrees up or down... The lens also seems to be missing a ring screw (one out of three)... at the bottom of the front silver ring. I'll have to see if that makes a difference when I find a replacement.
