Kood IR-filters, any good?

I,m looking to buy a IR filter with the appropriate cut-off point for Rollei IR. The Kood filters stand out for their economical pricing. Are they any good?

Really, do you mean the gel filters or the glas filters????

I don't have any knowledge of the Kood filters, but gel filters similar to the thin Kodak Wratten type are fragile and easily damaged by moisture.

Check the cut off first

The wrattens do work - I have one opaque but IR transparent for HIE that is getting fragile, but it was bought in about 1986. There are a number of them, and some may cut off the spectrum that the Rollei film sees.

Did some researching myself as I was intending to get a new filter for the IR season.

The Kood seems to be a rebranded cheap filter, reports suggest they are coated on one side of the filter and behave like an R72. I would avoid the cheap ebay IR filters as the cut off transmission is unreliable and most likely too high for the Rollei film.

Rollei recommend the Heliopan 715 and Kodak 88A filters.

I intend buying the Heliopan 695 filter or maybe the Cokin Z007 square resin filter for use with Rollei IR and Ilford SFX.

I have several Kood glass filters, among them a 77mm R72. I'm satisfied with the quality, and it does what it's supposed to do.
