Konica Pearl II

I just took possession of a Konica Pearl II folder. The camera is in very good shape, but I notice a few things on my first test roll. The shutter seems to drag at 500 (other speeds seem right on, at least close enough to shoot negative film). There are a few pinholes in the bellows, but that can be fixed with a bit of liquid electrical tape I suppose. Everything else seems to work fine - the lens is sharp and the rangefinder seems to be accurate.

I would eventually like to have the camera CLA'd, and perhaps the bellows replaced. Can anyone recommend someone (in the U.S.) that works on these cameras?

if you can live without the 1/500 and manage to get the pinholes repaired, I wouldn't service the camera yet. a lot of repairmen clean the shutter as a whole with solvents (and ultrasonic). that works for a while but may turn worse later. a good shutter service would take it apart which is extremely expensive.

it's a very nice camera. I have a III (you can see it at http://www.120folder.com/pearl_iii.htm ) and a II with an automatic film advance added later. I love them a lot. I hope you will enjoy yours.

Check with Greg Weber (www.webercamera.com) for anything Konica. He repaired my Konica III and sold me a refurbished Konica Auto S2 and I've been very happy with his work.

Thanks everybody! I will take the camera with me on a short trip next week, and that will probably determine if I can live with the minor issues for a while (or not).
