Kodak Viligant six-20 help

I’ll try to quit posting so much after this. I have a Kodak Viligant six-20 and the shutter assembly seemed to be working fine. Then the trigger started sticking and wouldn’t go all the way back. I then tried to put oil down in where the trigger goes and that made it worse I think. Now it will sometimes not even open the shutter and sometimes open it but not close and rarely it will open and close like it should. I figured out how to get the ring off from inside the bellows to get the shutter assembly off. I also got the focusing ring off and the first part that comes off on the back, but I can’t get any farther. How can I get it farther apart?

I got the outer piece off easily. (It’s just not off in the picture) how in the world do you get the others part off? It’s as tight as it can be and there is really nothing to grasp to loosen it.

Well I got it off (probably not using the best method) Anyway, I attempted to take the shutter assembly out, and now it is all to pieces and I don’t know what to do. Is there anyone you can send it to to get it fixed?

Hmm, the costs of someone repairing it will probably be much more than the camera is worth ... though I do not think that shutter should be that difficult to put back together.

Well maybe for someone smarter than me! Here are some pictures, I can’t get the shutter assembly all the way out because of the trigger, and I don’t see a way to take it loose. How can I get it off? The actual shutters themselves fell apart under that assembly.

Hmm, difficult to say ... this shutter appears to be a bit different than others I have taken apart.
I can't find any hits on Google ... you may want to inquire to the LearnCameraRepair facebook group ... unless there is someone on this Forum that has experience.

Any chance that you took photos of the shutter interior before you took anything apart?

You are in for a test of patience. First suggestion is to unload as many springs as you can. PUt a finger on each spring as you unload to stop it from flying away. Make notes, such as digital camera shots, of everything you do.

Honestly, your near-term life will be much better if you find a working shutter to buy and put in.

Or simply buy another whole camera and use this as a parts camera.

Taking photos at each step, from multiple angles, can be a real sanity saver. And in case this experience makes you think that you should never take apart a shutter ever again, a little encouragement- cheap shutters were never designed with service in mind. Better shutters are much easier to work on in many ways, one of which being that were meant to be worked on!
