Wanted to share...in case anyone else wants to buy a bulk roll (100') of Kodak TRI-X 35mm film from Walmart.com for the incredible price of $8.99. Has to be a mistake, as the same SKU on other sites is ~$80-$90. I'm thinking it should be $89.99, and someone made a mistake. I placed an order last night, and this morning the order was confirmed and shipped. The charge showing on my credit card is indeed $8.99!

Find it on the Walmart.com site: Kodak 106 7214 Tri-X 400TX Professional ISO 400, 35mm, Black and White Film 100-Feet Roll (Yellow)

i ordered 10, and got an email confirm. lets see if it actually ships. of course, three years ago they did sell 5 roll packs of superia 200 for $2.99 each of which i Bought 30. still shooting it

Thank you, I just ordered one box, too. Only $ 8.99 and free shipping to a USA address. Amazing that they made this mistake. Will they try to charge the full amount when they discover what happened? For an item this cheap, it would be barely worth their trouble, let alone risk irate customers spreading the news on social media. I never heard of Continental Photo, so let's see what shows up in the post. The funny thing is I just ordered some Acros, now that it has been discontinued, and it cost $10 per roll.

Thanks for the heads-up! Just ordered. Hope they honor it

Well, If you get all ten would you sell me one for a good price?

Bummer

"Thanks for your recent order. We're really sorry, but the items shown below were canceled due to a system error that kept us from processing orders. We're working to fix the error and hope to have a solution soon.

After reviewing the details below, Visit Continental Photo's page for questions about any Marketplace item. Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is unmonitored."

call the ny state attny general office
from what i was told, they might have to provide
that was paid for. ( its a contract )

Maybe if it was something being sold directly by Walmart I would try and argue my case, but I've dealt with Continental Photo before and it has always been great. It was obviously a typo and situation we were trying to take advantage of. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

My order was cancelled as well. No contract, until they charge your card, it is not payed..

Well the Walmart note does not state that once the "system error" had been corrected you will be charged a different price but simply that processing of your order will have to wait until the "system error" is put right.

Sorry I hadn't seen that the order is cancelled. However you have place an order that was accepted at the first price. Unless the item ceases to be produced so the order cannot be fulfilled can they in fact cancel under U.S. law?

yeah they seem like nice people, not evilcorp

In customer lawsuits some judges have ruled that the advertiser must honor the advertised price while others have ruled otherwise.

That's my line of thinking. They do have some great sales at times on close dated film on eBay.

I'm guessing your order set off a red flag or two! Looks like my order of one (1) roll is still coming - USPS tracking indicates it's been received. Question - I haven't rolled 35mm in over 30 years...what's a good quality (supplier) of the reusable film cartridges these days?

I go to the lab and get empties. I've never had a major issue.

not sure how your film is being sent, if you call the continental photo they will tell
you they haven't carried bulk 100 foot rolls of tri x in years ...

kind of weird ...

yeh order was cancelled. a $90 order will not raise a red flag. retailers do it all the time, cancel orders before charging the cards. you could try to sue for specific performance, but is it really worth it? we knew it was a mistake and yet jumped at it. an honest mistake that was correctly cancelled.

next.....

The second vendor with 100 ft rolls, Mel Pierce Camera, still shows the $8.99 price. I just placed an order. Let's see if this one ships.

Update 12:07 CDT: my card was charged. I received a confirmation from by bank.

I don't get the excitement about ripping off film suppliers over typos.
