I just picked up a mid level Tourist II with the Anaston lens and Diomatic shutter. While cleaning the shutter, it appeared to be uncoated. There is no L (for Lumenized) marking either.

This camera is no older than the early '50s. Though not top of the line, it is a very useable camera. Was Kodak really leaving out the coating to save a few bucks?

I'd almost say 'yes'! At that point, Kodak was making a bewildering variety of Tourists. I have one that must be near the TOTL-- it has the coated f/4.5 lens and a 1/400 (maybe a 1/800, I don't have it handy right now) shutter, in a fitted case that has room for 3 filters in the top section. Seems like they decided that if they made enough variations on the theme, they could cover everybody's wants and people would only have to remember one brand and model.

The Tourists have plastic bellows which are notorious for having loads of pinholes in them, dues to aging effects. Inspect the bellows carefully.

My late model Tourist has a coated lens, top shutter speed of 1/400, and I'm pretty sure the top of the line with the 4 element lens and 1/800th of a second shutter was coated.
