There is one for sale pretty cheap locally and I need to get a tacking iron anyway so can I use this in place of a tacking iron? I figured I could but like to make sure before purchasing it.

Thanks

I have a Kodak Color, bought in the mid 70s, last time I cross checked with a new digital model it was still spot on. Not as easy to read as the digital, but easy to use, no battery needed.

I think it would make for a very poor tacking iron. OK if you are dry mounting 3x5" photos into a bound album, but otherwise rather useless.

For a long time I just used the clothes iron.

Kind of figured that, it seems that's what it was intended for. Appreciate it.

I'd be a bit concerned about the insulation on the wiring, also.

I just use a clothes iron to mount prints, actually. It's a bit of a pain but I don't mount very many.
