OK, I never heard of TMAX fixer, but I couldn't resist googling. I found this description at the link below.

"T-Max film seems to take more intense fixing than other films and we find that, with regular fixer, T-max film needs fixing twice to avoid "pink" negatives. Hence why T-Max fixer is recommended for T-Max films for shorter fix times, and less waste."

I expect that it is the same as the liquid Kodafix that sells in North America under that name.
Similar to Kodak Polymax - T print developer, which has in the past been labeled as Kodak Liquid Dektol in European markets.

It' s not the same. Liquid Kodafix is also available in Europe, different fixer.

Surely, there must be something more to it than solution strength. Otherwise, we could simply mix regular fixer more concentrated. Right or wrong?

Highly unlikely as PolyMax fixer is described as paper fixer, the one in question as film fixer.
You may have missed this reference in the data sheet:
"POLYMAX T Fixer is also for use with tank or tray processing of film; dilute 1 part concentrate with 3 parts water.".

Indeed I have. But dilution suggested forT-MAX fixer for film is 1+4.

Yeah...the pink negative thing was really stumping me...made me think my fixer was expiring. And HCA was REALLY pink!

One of the reasons I have never been wild about Tmax films - they take twice as long to fix as Ilford and I can never seem to get the stain out. I'm always left with the feeling that they are underfixed.

Use PermaWash. It gets the stain out right away!

I haven't used TMax regularly for years, but I remember that the film exhausts fixer faster than other films. This is just my experience and I haven't verified it.

I agitate film in the fix to scrub off the pink dye. I worried that if I didn't remove the pink hue, I'll be printing with higher contrast with MG paper.

I have processed a lot of TMAX film and don't have a problem with pink negatives, using a standard rapid fix at 1+4 dilution - 6 minutes , one shot, or at least limited use. Not trying to achieve maximum capacity out of the solution.
