Kodak T Max cut in ULF sizes for 2007?

What vendor will or has picked up negotiations with Kodak for T Max cut in ULF sizes? As recently as March, 2007, John Minakais of J&C surveyed T Max shooters to determine the quantity and sizes that would be purchased. “"Kodak has also agreed to set into production re-cuts of the sizes already offered. Please email us with your needs regarding 7x17, 8x20, 10x12, 11x14, 12x20 and 14x17 so we can get an idea of what the demand is and what to have cut next (after 16x20 and 20x24). Kodak has agreed to hold the line on pricing at the moment. However, this is subject to change at any time.”

A tentative delivery date of Aug-Sept. 2007 was suggested on J&C’s web site. Is another vendor negotiating with Kodak now? If so do we know who we should be contacting to express our interest in T Max speed, quantity and size?

"We will continue to work the ULF and T-Max deals on a custom basis.

All T-Max orders already placed are still valid."

John clearly stated within his recent announcement that it was his intention to follow through with the Kodak TMY arrangement and the last conversation I had with him (about two hours ago) on the subject was consistent with this objective. We have some minor issues to work through with Kodak but what else is new? We have 20x24 and 16x20 in the works as our first priority as these folks have been patient to the second or third power with other formats to follow at regular intervals. John and I are committed to continuing to bring this product to the market irrespective of the bumps in the road.

At the end of the day where there is a will, there is always a way.

Our objectives are much different than the last time we did the TMY order. First of all, on our first iteration we unintentionally overwhelmed Kodak with submitting all of the desired formats to be cut at one time and that was the reason that we got the one size fits all packaging. As soon as we get 20x24 and 16x20 completed, we want to submit two formats every two to three months and just keep the ball rolling. We have been told that we can get 25 sheets per box and correct packaging so feel that we are making progress. It just takes time to get everything coordinated. We are working hard behind the scenes to make it happen and have a track record to go on so we will keep you posted.

Thanks to you and John in your continued efforts to supply this excellent film in ULF sizes. The more choices we have in ULF film the better. I'm very much enjoying the 7x17 I bought last time around and still have some in the freezer. It's nice to know that more will be available going forward. Just to cover my bases, I bought some 7x17 and 14x17 FP4+ as part of the recent Ilford ULF program. It's a lovely film, but I really like something with more speed and better reciprocity characteristics for ULF use. I don't even have a 14x17 camera yet, but plan to make a 14x17 conversion for my Franken-ARCA and am already stocking my freezer in anticipation of getting a 14x17 up and running. The prospect of 14x17 TMAX 400 is further incentive to complete the project.

What are the prospects of putting together a Tri-X order? Over the past 8 years I have shot several thousand sheets of B&W film through my various 5X7 cameras. The 5X7 has given me the opportunity to try most of the readily available sheet films and even some that are not. In a quest for a better film I have gone as far as to contact Kodak Aerographic from whom I purchased and re-cut into 5X7, rolls of Super-XX, PAN-X, and PLUS-X, film. While it was a worthwhile exercise, TRI-X continually emerged as my go to film. Since I'm a X-Tol, D-76, and Rodinal fan, these developers may have had something to do with my choice? That said, is there any chance TRI-X could be available in 5X7, 11X14, and 14X17 in future orders?

Well, it says Tri-X on all my rolls and boxes of TXP320, so they share the "Tri-X" part. Tri-X 400 hasn`t been made in sheets for years...

Since my post of two days ago, I have stumbled upon the Freestyle Photo catalog. It turns out that Freestyle has Tri-X 320 in 11X14. They are asking $89.00 per 10 sheet box.
