I have a Retina IIIc and a Retina IIc. I just received a Kodak Series 6 adapter ring (31.5mm/1.25"). It slips on the lenses of my Retinas closely but does not snug up. Sothe adapter ring falls off the lens. Is it common to get the pliers and slightly bend a few of the ring prongs so that the ring will secure itself on the camera lenses? OR did I buy the wrong size? Thanks.

The prongs need to be carefully squeezed in. Do a little at a time until if grips but not too tightly.

I do this all time to fit a number of lens, yesterday I had to work on a SVI to fit a Kodak Tourist.

Makes sense. Do folks usually manage it with finger pressure and skip the pliers?

I use needle nose pliers. But very gentle movements to (1) avoid over correcting and (2) breaking the flange sections. If you can find them, the original instructions actually discuss this and suggest that .5mm, plus or minus, is acceptable. In practice, the amount of adjustment might be a bit more.

Finger pressure alone works. Thanks to both of you!

Show us some pics when you get a chance, it would be informative to see how those lenses image. Mostly, all my Retina cameras were the Ia models w/ the budget 50 3.5 lenses. Those made photos that looked very, very close to photos taken w/ Leica lenses.

Most recent, using Kentmere100. Ilfosol 3, 1+14, 7.5 minutes. Yellow filter on the boat picture. I've never had a Leica, but the Retina seems at least as good as my old Nikon FE with equivalent Nikkor lens.

I've have a Retina IIIC big, got it in 1966, also had Lieca IIIG and Canon 7, the Retina 50mm lens are as good as 50s vintage Leica or Canon lens. The Retina folders are fussy to use, lens are not truly interchanable only the front elements are changed, and on the IIIC the rangefinder is not coupled to the 35mm or 85mm. Still an outstanding shooter.

I use a 29.5mm screw in adapter- avoids these problems. I use Series V filters, but the Series VI adapters for 29.5mm are around:
