I was looking for a Retina Ia with an Ektar lens, but since I couldn't find one for less than a king's ransom I ended up buying two Retina I cameras w/ Ektars. Unfortunately, I have had a hard time readjusting to knob wind. This one I'm selling is the keeper of the two that I bought (the other one is toast). The shutter exposes correctly down to 1/25, which is as low as I tested it, and there are no light leaks. Focus is smooth. The only negatives are that the viewfinder could use a little cleaning at some point and you have to pay attention when loading film to make sure the film counter is properly engaged.

Retinas are extremely quirky and fragile cameras, and you usually need to fiddle w/ something to get things dialed in (like getting your focus guessing skills finely honed), but their lenses make it all worthwhile. This Ektar lens is a sharp little guy, much sharper than the more common Xenar. Samples are Tri-X in TD-16. $38 plus $13 Insured shipping. US only please.

Camera still available.

Sold to Bill. Thanks.

Thanks momus,

Got them (both) and fixed up the good one. Haa, the second one's perfectly usable just missing some cosmetic parts. The retaining ring isn't part of the lens mount, the ring sits loose behind the front lens cell.

Leave the thread open a little, I'll add some photos from the weekend...

It's definitely a good camera, nothing sharp yet but lots of fun.
