Kodak releases 8x10 version of new Portra 400

So, "evil" Kodak has listened to user demand and released the new 400 Portra in 8x10. I wonder how the Kodak haters will react to this news. Since every film announcement from Kodak is greeted with howls and screams of derision followed closely by long diatribes of Kodak bashing, surely someone here can find a way to turn this into more reasons to hate Kodak. I don't know how, but experience tells me it's coming.

Although I do not shoot 8x10 yet, I am quite pleased. I can't wait to get some of the new film in my hands!..Hopefully the BJP is accurate..

In any case, I'd like to find it in just to be able to find it in 35mm and 120 so I can see how it looks for me. Anyone wanna send me a roll or two?

Nice! Let's hope enough people buy it to make it last. Too bad it ain't 5x7, as I no longer shoot 8x10! However, at least I can slice some of the 8x10 down if need be.

And I have the fact that I cant find it anywhere yet to complain about, none of the top/pro imaging places even heard about this here in Aus.. also looked online to see if I could get a few rolls.

I'm just thankful that Kodak still produces film at this point. I don't see where bashing/boycotting accomplishes anything besides making matters worse. Oh well..

nope
it would just be more convenient than having to buy
a lot of small boxes ...
kind of like 4x5 film ...
it used to come in 100 sheet boxes, now the largest size
that big K sells is 50sheets ...

maybe i am wrong and the new film will be sold in large quantities
hope so !

Australia is a long way from the USA. Anyway, Scott DiSabato on Inside analogue photo suggested the Kodak Portra 400 films would be available on a stock rotation basis.

It has nothing to do with actual cost. Anything involving being a consumer in Australia usually means getting ripped off. It also has nothing to do with quantity/demand, there are other market examples of that.

For example there are numerous numerous examples, but this highlights the problem well, there are snow boards and car parts produced here.. to buy locally.. even "wholesale" costs nearly twice as much as buying it from the U.S.... which has to be shipped from Aus to the U.S. taxes and then shipped back again here.
