On October 3, 2022, Eastman Kodak will be recognized by the American Chemical Society as a National Historic Chemical Landmark. The landmark, titled “The Birthplace of Consumer Photography” honors George Eastman, Kodak, and their role in bringing everyday photography to the world.
The landmark dedication will take place Monday, October 3 at 4:30 pm at The Kodak Center on West Ridge Rd. Presented as part of the Northeast Regional Meeting (NERM) of the American Chemical Society, the ceremony will be free and open to the public. Text courtesy of ACS.

As part of the ACS meeting I will be making a presentation "Making KODAK Film, State-of-the-Art Film Manufacturing". I am honored to make this presentation on behalf of the thousands of people around the World that made Kodak Film.

Congratulations, Robert. That is an honor to represent Kodak.

My experiences in photography are a big part of what led me to Chemical Engineering for a degree. When I did graduate, one of my first resumes out was to Eastman Kodak. Turned out that 1985 was one of the worst years to graduate with a degree in chemical engineering, so I got crickets from Kodak as well as every other classical Chemical company. I did start a carer, but different then what I imagined coming out of high school (not unusual, and still very fulfilling overall).

Just out of curiosity, why was 1985 one of the worst years for graduates with chemical engineering and what "crickets"

Thanks

Don't know. Recession and glut of ChemEs in the US. I remember a year or two earlier seeing a news report that there was a shortage of ChemEs and they were even offering vacations for ChemEs to show-up for an interview. "Cricket's" represents the sound of silence, meaning no responses.

Congratulations! I wish I could make it to the presentation.
