Kodak Rapid fixer advise

Hi,
1 use fixer liter at the time.
Should I mix the whole gallon and split it in 2 quarts topped off or mix 1liter at the time and store the concentrate?
Also It came with hardener. I tried to read on this forum about it and the mainstream opinion is to not use it unless I want to wash a lot more.

Mix it one litre (or quart) at a time.
I set the small bottle of hardener aside, and use it for other purposes. I replace its relatively small volume with water in the working solution mix.

I mixed it in two 1/2 gallon Pet bottles filled to the brim.

Some toners have the side effect of softening the emulsion of toned prints. So those little bottles - mixed 1 + 13 for a working solution - provide me with a hardening bath for those prints.
To date, I've never found anyone with good information about the capacity of that hardening bath - how many prints per litre. If you know anything ....
I could accomplish the same thing by using a hardening fixer just for the toning - many toners require it as part of the process. But I prefer not doing that.
There are also a few of the more esoteric films out there that aren't as well hardened as the most common ones. If you like to experiment with those, it may make sense to use hardening fixers.
