Kodak Raises Filim Prices in Japan

whut

What is NOT expensive in Japan? Blame MITI and the scheme to get full employment at the risk of not having lower prices. If you don't have a job prices are really high.

I was just in Tokyo 2 weeks ago. I wanted to buy some tmax, but it was seriously like 40% more than anything else. It was a huge premium to pay. Oddly Ilford was cheaper than fuji. I bought HP5.

Yeah, I was at Yodobashi a couple of days ago because I wanted to pick up some Tri-X, but the price is not worth it. HP5+ is the only way forward for me now.

900yen = 5.07 GBP

About par for film here

You have to REALLY want Kodak film to buy it in Japan. The price premium is enormous.

Japan is the one place in the World where they aren't short of film, buy Fuji.

I was in Japan earlier this month (Fukuoka Bic Camera), and bought a few rolls of 35 and 120 TMY and HP5. The HP5 was cheaper than TMY. They had lots of Ilford films and hardly any Kodak. I was surprised to see only a couple rolls of Fuji Acros 120. Prices were similar to what I'd pay in Vancouver. When I lived in Japan, film was always quite a bit cheaper than Canada. While the store was quite busy, I was the only one in the film section.
