Just curious. I had an old bottle of Kodak Professional Rapid Fixer. This is the stuff that comes in 2 bottles and is packaged in a brown cardboard box. You mix the two bottles (fix & hardener, I believe) and add water to make a gallon. All solutions, no dry chemicals in this product.

Now I've been using this for a while and finally got down to the dregs when I noticed that there were tiny clear crystals floating in the last of the solution. Just wondering if something's fallen out of solution or if I got the bottle contaminated somehow...anyone seen this? I didn't chance using it and used other fix I had lying around.

If the crystals dissolve when you mix it, and it is clear, you are OK. If you still find a fine white or yellow suspension of particles, it is not good. That is sulfur and the fixer has decomposed.

If you smell rotten eggs, it is bad.

Thanks! No rotten egg smell, just the normal fix smell and fine crystals. I decided to dump it and start out fresh (always a good thing).
