Sigh,.....Kodak are using the price increase to invest in their factory so they can be in a position to produce more film towards the end of 2020 than they are currently capable of manufacturing. It's nothing to do with quashing demand with prices. It's also worth noting that Kodak Alaris made several million dollars loss last year despite the massive increase in film sales.

This is what is really great about a "free" market. You are free to buy whatever you want, whenever you want, for whatever reason. Supply and demand "problems" are very seldom the fault of the manufacturers but usually of the distributors. Manufacturers will only make a certain amount of any product based, usually, on past sales of that product. Anything more is speculation on their part which most manufacturers don't like to do. Perhaps, instead of "supply and demand" we should be saying "demand and supply"!.......Regards!

Perception and gratuitously negative posts in a number of threads. I've added that poster to my ignore list, and suggest others who value their serenity add him to theirs as well.

I do not use the Ignore List very much, but for this one I will.

Not sure about colour Kodak film, but the black & white stocks have been in short supply here in the UK for a while.
Adorama has been on back order for TriX 120 for 4 weeks

What's the pricing of Fuji products (the film, not the chemicals) like in Japan by comparison?

Mike
Acros 100ii is 1040 yen
Superia 400 3pack is 3850 yen

same or more than Kodak prices.
Buying Fuji vs Kodak in Japan makes no difference price wise.

What if??????
It's how all stories are created.
It's fun to speculate.
Is the film revival already here or is it a false start?
Is the film shelf half full or half empty?
Will Fuji really bring back Reala?

Life in general.

Stagnation is falling. If you aren't striving up, you're falling down. Swim or sink. Etc and etc.

Actually, no.
Steady states are really attractive in a lot of cases.
Think of businesses like camera repair businesses. The goal is to have a regular supply of profitable work - not continued expansion.
But stable profitability is frowned upon in much of the financial world.

Macro vs Micro.

Mr. Camera Repair doesn't have to answer to anyone except for Mrs. Camera Repair.

International Camera Repair and Photo Depot since 1888 (TM) Now with 30 locations! has to answer to investors. Investors want growth. Without investors there would not be 30 locations.

I think I shall start Futures Trading in film . I'd probably end up like the Hunt brothers when they tried to corner silver in 1980.

Ultrafine Extreme in bulk has been out of stock for a while. Am I going to have to buy Kentmere 400 instead?

Trump tariffs just around the corner ...only Kodak ?

Everything with Donny is 'just around the corner'.
