I am wondering if Pan-X by Kodak is basically an ASA 125 version of Tri-X 400 in terms of characteristics other than the speed....

Is Pan-X as forgiving as TriX for processing variations? Currently, I am using Tmax 100, Tmax 400, and Tri-X 400. Tmax film tends to be very sensitive to exacting exposure and development where as Tri-X is very forgiving. I can mess up quite a bit and still end up with printable negatives. I would like to know if Pan-X is similar.

Thank you as always.

Plus-X seems to me to be similar to Tri-X in regards to the ease of development. Plus-X is a very nice black and white emulsion.

I love Plus-X. Good stuff. After shooting Tri-X for awhile, I picked up some Plus-X and just followed the directions and it comes out very nice. Think of it as a 2 stop slower Tri-X (with some minor differences).

Sorry, yes, Plus-X. I was reading Kodak's description as Plus-X Panchromatic film. I don't kwow why they had to specify it's pan chromatic...

Because in the time Plus-X film was introduced, many orthochromatic films were still around and in use. I was recently surprised to learn that Ilford still has an ortho film, which I now want to try for portraits.

I learned something new today.... Thanks!

I have a few rolls of Panatomic-X in the freezer.

My mom picked up an old Ansco film display rack and on the top it actually says, "'Sees red' to make better pictures". Must be from a time when panchromatic film was still somewhat new.
