Kodak opens a retail store in London?

It's called The Kodakery. I don't know what this means, but it looks like it could raise awareness about Kodak and film in general. Along with the announcement of their new Super8 camera, it seems like Kodak is actively promoting their consumer photographic products, which could be a really good thing for the industry.

Those beautiful yellow and red colours sure are gorgeous.

I saw that! It looks like a really cool space IMO. From what I raid it's basically a "pop-up" so to speak. I think it's going away after the holidays are over. Looks like they're pushing hard to market their smartphone, The Ektra. It does look like a neat little phone, though not so neat that I would stop using an iPhone. I have to wonder if they were hoping to be able to sell their Super 8 camera at this event... There must have been some delays on that.

Kodak branded products for hipsters, huzzah!

I was there on Friday and today.
First, they do have a "prototype" of the Super8 camera. It will be available May next year.
Second, they are promoting their mobile phone heavily as a modern day replacement for a Kodak camera. Even the box that it comes in resembles an older 50s Kodak camera box.

And yes, they have caps, t-shirts and even jackets with "Ektachrome 160T" printed.
I spoke with someone from Kodak about if there was any significance in it and he just kept his mouth shut.

Seeing E6 labs are going away already, its to late for that. I doubt many of them will home-dev E6.

I fear E6 is already in its death spiral now; film far too expensive, fast dwindling amount of labs and a reputation of being difficult to home develop.

All the more reason to remind people that it's not difficult to home process. FWIW, there's a lot of interest among new film shooters around here for colour processing at home (both C-41 and E6). If it's enough to keep E6 film alive remains to be seen, I suppose.

Maybe they're bringing 160T back in conjunction with the Super 8 camera...

The online store doesn't seem to be Kodak themselves, it's someone called Taylor Communications using the Kodak brand.

Just as Kodak batteries in the UK are mostly Made in China and supplied "under license from Kodak" by an independent company Strand Europe Ltd.

Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I wouldn't get excited about any forthcoming revival of any actual analogue products.

What is the address of the shop?

I'm one of those who welcomes anyone using films....if the hipsters buy film, and possibly chemicals or lab processing...I really don't care if they also have silly beards and buy Kodak hats. If they help keep certain emulsions in production, surely that is good?

Plenty of new shooters about....as evidenced by the number of threads on here...."I am just starting, how can I (find chemicals/shoot frugally/develop my own/find the best camera)"

I find it somewhat ironic that they are selling mainly memorabilia for products that Kodak don't make any more, it reminds me of the old victorian music hall song, ♪ ♪ yes we have no bananas ♪.
