We used to buy 5222 cine cans as a group to get the first discount level but stopped after previous (Jan14) 15% increase - hasta la vista.

It is still a lot cheaper than trix bulk per foot (or metre) but we don't buy that either.

Inexpensive film is becoming a thing of the past. But prices are going to have to increase if any film is to survive at all.

It hurts but I still buy TMX and TMY. For TriX I continue to buy small batches of Arista Premium 400 as long as it holds out.

It was on the cards right when they said it wasn't even profitable when the Cine-directors were intervening for resuscitation.
Cine film wasn't going to be in black they said, even in '16.

Cine film is still the cash cow nr. 1 at Kodak, they lost some revenue but still make of 300 Million from it much more than any other part of Kodak does.

They are in a difficult situation that cine and bubble jet are both shrinking and follow on ventures not fully 'on stream'.
They are or have neither projected nor planned properly, hence previous ch11.
There is still large turnover of cine for EK ( and stills for KA).
But both companies regard them as cash cows in milking palour.
They ain't allowing them out to see the grass.
The 25% hike from Dec13 means the 5222 group switch back to other manufacturers, it will push small cine people to digital as digital has dropped in interval.
All of this is good news for Ferrani, Foma, Ilford, Orwo, etc., ...

I noticed this part I quoted above. It's also possible that some of the price increases can be attributed to the Canadian dollar falling for a while now, if you were looking at a press release from Kodak Canada. Has Kodak announced any price changes in the US? That would be a better indication of where film prices are going since you wouldn't have to factor in shifting currency exchange rates.

That was my thought, The Cdn$ has been taking a real hit with the price of OIL falling like a stone. enough to add 15% to CDN$ prices.

The Canadian distribution costs may also be different from costs in other parts of the world. Did the cost increase at the beginning of 2013 (if any) match the US increase?
