kodak monitor 101 special (help)

hi, i just won an kodak monitor folder 620 with the 101mm special lens and im getting very excited about it. the problem i have is that even though i checked the online manual and everywere im not sure about wich hood and filters for b&w there going to fit on this lens. i think is some from the series vi but not sure. if you have any that you r using i would really like to know the size-code number or aany other info.thanks

Mine would take a 33mm push on adapter which would hold series VI filters. Check out macintoshcat on ebay.

I've got a Monitor 620 but the lens is a 105mm coated Anastigmat. The 101 was suppose to be better from what I read at least and I do have that lens off another Monitor folder which I used on a Century Graphic at one time but it's sticky now and I really can't remember how it performed. Overall I find the camera to be a F16@infinity deal for faster shooting and the re-roll of 120 on the 620 spools while easy enough is just a put off sometimes. It's novel, and you can have fun with it, but I can think of better cameras to use, but of course at higher prices. Of course your mileage may vary. I wish you luck with it.

i v seen pictures from the 101 lens and the tessar of an super ikonta next to eachother , the kodak was about the same if not better ..also i think that just snipping of the edge of the 120 spool is enough to make it fit at the monitor(thats what i hear from other users)...
maybe not as good as my super ikonta but for 35$ ....

You really have to judge all apertures to make a solid determination, but from what I have seen the 101 was a pretty good performer, at least online. The one thing I have seen on mine is the edges loose resolution, but that's also due to the actual image being slightly larger then the film gate at the edges.

I've read talk of trimming the spool ends to the smaller diameter. I also read somewhere of a hack that would allow use of the 120 spool.

you r absolutelly right about the performance at different apertures ,the pics that i v seen was :same subject from a tripod at f8,16 and i think 22 with both cameras ,same film etc.my friend wanted to do a test . at 16 and 22 was aboutt the same looking through a loop, at f8 we both thought that the kodak was better.
from what i hear the early models of monitors take the trimed 120 spools , the later dont.the hack im not really aware off.(sory about the spelling but english is my third language)

The hack is basically altering the camera to allow use of the full 120 reel. I did alot of thread searching everywhere before I ran across it. I would suspect that it will be useful only on certain models.

I'm not sure about trimming a 120 hard plastic reel with film on it. I believe a grinder was being used like a dremel.
I had a Super Ikonta B with the Jena lens on it. Nice camera with the rangefinder.
