In the next few days I will finish another 120 conversion of a Kodak Medalist II. Very good cosmetics. 1945 lens (ER code)

I disassemble the camera down to the frame, modify the film chambers and make other modifications to accommodate the 120 spool. Everything is cleaned and lubed and adjusted on reassembly. Other than taking 120 spools, it works like any Medalist.

Shutter is overhauled and working at all speeds. Glass is clean. Rangefinder is clean and adjusted.

From the outside it looks like any other Medalist II.

I've done one for Blue Moon Camera, and have three more from them on my desk right now going out tomorrow. Here is an instagram post they made about the first one I did for them (that is the Medalist I I did for them, not the camera for sale)-

I thought I'd throw this up now to see if anyone is interested.

Had I the money, I'd be really interested in this (the life of a freelancer...). I think it's fantastic you're doing this work, and I hope you get some good publicity for it -- getting in with Blue Moon is a great start to that.

If you never need anyone to shoot a few test rolls for you, and help get word out you have only to ask
 
Dan does nice work. I have a Minolta Autocord L he massaged. Works like a charm, looks more like a demo camera than its actual age. Buy with confidence.

If you could figure out a way to add strap lugs, you would make the camera perfect!

Uh, they DO have strap lugs. Top edge, front left and right side. You can see them in the little thumbnail above where the brown strap connects.

Maybe you mean something different like Hasselblad clip lugs or such?

LOL. But wait, you said you wanted it if it only had lugs and here it is with lugs! It could be yours!! Where should I mail it?

I've never understood why any camera wouldn't have strap lugs or the equivalent. I have an Agfa Karat IV, nice folding rangefinder, f2 Solagon. Thankfully my example has a case, since otherwise I'd have to find a wrist strap to fasten to the tripod socket, as I've had to do with my Retina !. What were the designers thinking??
 
 
I'd like to purchase the Medalist II if it is not already sold.
 
Dan...do you do this type of conversion for other Medalist owners? I have a fully functional Model II...and am sick of 620 re-rolling.

Makes me wonder -- are you familiar with the Reflex II and is it possible to do this conversion for that camera? I have one that works well enough with 620 takeup and a trimmed 120 supply, but it'd surely be more convenient to be able to just run 120 in it -- and the camera is good enough it might be worth paying for a conversion.
 
Donlad, I'll send you a message. It'd be interesting to look at the interior to see what kind of room there is. The Medalist is built very tightly aorund the 620 spools. The Film Photography Project plastic 620 spools won't even work on the feed side because the overall length is maybe 1/2mm longer due to the need for thicker flanges than the metal end flanges. I've converted a Kodak Chevron, and if oyu lok in the back of that camera you can see how much room there is. 90% of that conversion is simply grinding away parts of the cast aluminum body.
 
Yep, the Reflex II is tight, but less tight than a Medalist II -- as noted, mine works fine with a trimmed 120 spool; it'll even take that in the takeup if the trim is perfect (but the key won't reliably grip in the larger slot).
