hey guys,
For sale here is a bad-ass "starter" 8x10 kit(sans holders and other small bits), or a nice way to round out your collection. The camera is a Kodak Master(a.k.a. the "KMV") 8x10, and its in pretty clean condition for being close to 60yrs old!
Camera:
Bellows have been taped(black gaffers) by me, and they've proved to be totally light tight. I believe they're the original bellows, and all the hooks are still there to keep the bellows taught, both on top and bottom. The g/g is the ORIGINAL Kodak screen, with 4x5 and 5x7 formats marked out on it. NO CRACKS on the screen! The springs on the back are still nice and tight, but not so much that it moves/jarrs the camera when inserting a film holder. I taped(electrical tape over gaffers) the handle to make it more comfortable than the cheap fake leather that was on it before. One of the felt pieces(bottom one on spring back) has seemed to have discapeered! It should be an easy 20min fix-a-rooney for anyone familiar with super glue, scissors and a phillips screwdriver.
Lens:
Its a 12" Red-Dot Artar. VERY SHARP, yet beautifully smooth! It doesn't provide the coverage of a similar focal length dagor or heavy plasmat, but it works well, especially if using BACK movements(such as tilt) to stay within the image circle of the lens. It has some dust particles inside, but I haven't seen any adverse affects with my film as of yet. I "made" a step up ring(52mm--77mm) by taping around the front barrel of the lens so the step up ring just pushes on. Lens has NO rear cap, but a 77mm front screw-in cap. Shutter runs well, I'm not a big fan of Ilex shutters, I prefer compound(the best, soooooo smooth!!!) or Copal shutters for my lenses. However, this shutter runs well, and the speeds to my ear(and my film according to metered exposures) shows its within my spec, which is tight, to say the least! Lastly, I've found that
Holders:
(2) 8x10 plastic, modern style holders. Light tight. Work well. The light-trap bars are slightly bowing, but I've not had any problems with light leaks.
Meter:
Zone VI modified Pentax 1° spot meter. NO CASE, NO LENSCAP. Strap has been modified(not by me). Compared to my other 2 Pentax Digital(non-zone vi) meters, its bang on exposure-wise. Top zone scale is missing, it has a self-made chart that works well, though it doesn't have those little gray scales. It looks as if it was cleaned at some time for a possible fungus problem, but inside it looks clean(ish), and I have take out the front element and did my own 70% rubbing alcohol swab-down just to make sure! So its ready to go, but no a mint condition meter.
Case:
Looks like it's been around the world, maybe it has! Both latches stay very secure, and keep it nice and tight. Interior could use some help, but who really cares about the interior, other than some snooty collector? This is a camera to be used, NOT babied!!! The case IIRC is made of metal, IDK exactly, but its a great little case. I have some bubble wrap on the bottom to help pad the camera and acc's when moving around.
Here is a laundry-list of what's included in this sale:
1. (1)8x10 KMV camera
2. (1)12in Red-Dot Artar mounted in Ilex 4 shutter w/ flange. Comes w/ 52mm-77mm step up ring + 77mm screw-in metal FRONT lens cap. NO rear cap. Mounted on lensboard in picture. Also has 77mm rubber Mamiya lens hood.
3. (1) Pentax digital Zone VI modified spot meter. Battery included. NO CASE. NO CAP.
4. (2) Plastic, modern 8x10 holders w/ darkslides.
5. (1) spare lensboard(original type) w/ (Ilex 5?) shutter flange. Could work well if modified w/ one of these mounted on it to take smaller lensboards:
(ebay item #: 350140071862, THIS ITEM IS NOT INCLUDED IN SALE, just for reference)
6. Kodak camera case.
So, money money money. I feel this kits worth $2200 + shipping(UPS Ground) as it stands. Especially since there's a zone-vi meter included as well!
I'm willing to go int'l on this for shipping, but please be aware shipping can get EXPENSIVO!

thanks!
