Kodak marketing Slogans

I was hoping I could use this thread to start a list of Kodak marketing slogans
and the dates they were used. From george Eastmans "You press the button , We do the rest" to todays " "great photos start with great film, choose Kodak"

What slogans have you heard from them, what country was it used in and when was it used?
 
How about "Kodak: you shoot the pictures, we shoot ourselves in the foot"?

Not a real slogan but a very real scenario...
 
Canada (at least) - 1970s, particularly around Christmas: "Open Me First"

"A Kodak moment."

BTW: the "Open me first" was probably the most inspired for those of us "of a certain age".

I can still visualize the scene under the Xmas tree of the gold foil wrapped box with red ribbon and the gift card saying: "Open Me First" - with the OOF of a red bicycle, a doll etc. in the background.

And the next shot of Dad taking the pics with that new Instamatic of the kids opening those presents.
 
Ok I'm worried Kodaks slogans but not have an impact on us as the consuming masses. If we cant remember them then there is obviously something wrong with kodaks marketing?
 
How about a Fuji slogan then: "from the people who brought you Pearl Harbor!"

That had to be taken off the market in the US. It outraged the people here.

Was "Share Moments, Share Life" a Kodak slogan? I think so, but it may have been someone else.

On another note, I'd really like to see a scan of that Fuji ad! I tried a Google image search but couldn't come up with anything.

That is truly outrageous, and is a good example of how different oriental thinking is to our occidental thinking, and the fact that they thought this slogan would sell their products in the U.S !, just as their government at the time thought that their pre-emptive strike on Pearl Harbour would cause the United States To surrender!
 
"Trust us, buy our products, make us rich and then we will F*** you without a backward look".
 
Oh, come on... You don't really think that was an actual slogan, do you? PE was pulling your leg (or other parts of your anatomy).

It was a real slogan. I am not pulling anyones leg on this one! It was withdrawn with a lot of protest in the US. I used to have a copy of it on the wall in my office to keep me reminded of our competition!

Not so much a slogan as a phrase that became part of the popular lexicon is the "Kodak moment." It seems I've known that all my life.

I am unaware that this is a maturity contest.

I am aware that joking around, quite often in an opinionated manner, is generally allowed, however.

I wonder why Kodak gets the brunt of all the jokes and criticism....they are still around and producing film products for us, even though most of the others have disappeared (Agfa....totally gone. Ilford....until, thankfully, they were re-organised. Konica....totally gone. Forte....totally gone.
Orwo....totally gone.)

I was all for knocking Kodak, until I read some considered comments in another thread, and realised that most of the industry's problems generally are a direct result of the switch to digital. Kodak are far from perfect, but I wouldn't like to be trying to manage the company right now.

(Not criticising any of the jokey posts or views posted here, they just started a train of thought in my mind. )
 
hehehe yes my associate (who does all the digital work in my lab said Kodaks new slogan should be "Kodak .....going negative"
but my I have some serious slogans that have been used?

Among other things, Kodak sitll takes film seriously and I can assure you that they are conducting an ongoing product improvement program. It took literally years to perfect the latest round of color and B&W products using the latest technology!

And, being known as a photographic company in the north east as well, it has been difficult to attract good electronics people for the digital work when they can go to sunny California. Even so, they make some of the most advanced and best digital sensors in the world.

You could pick out a few of those slogans and apply them to Fuji or to Agfa before it perished. None of the other existing companies are doing original research except Kodak and Fuji, they are merely reviving old product lines.

I wish Kodak would. Original research is not what I want. I don't need new T Max or better color neg film. Films were good enough 15 years ago to do everything I will ever want to do. What I want is the stuff they got rid of; especially 320T, Plus-X sheets, and Pan-X. Fuji too. I am not making a total attack on Kodak. They are pretty much comparable to Fuji and Ilford. It's just that they offer little to pique my interest over Ilford or Fuji. I wonder if any of the big manufacturers will ever dare to be different again. My point is that the large range of products that made Kodak very unique and more interesting than some other companies have been discontinued.

Also, I think you probably know that I am not trying to make a factual analysis of Kodak. I am just voicing my frustrations with a brand whose [discontinued] products I love[d], with humor intended.

I know you are frustrated, and so am I, but the fact remains that product is spoiling on dealers shelves and Kodak is having master rolls go bad uncut due to lack of orders. So, it is not their fault. As I said before, digital drives due to the fact that the majority of customers want mediocrity and they want it now!
