I get the impression that these services are not particularly for light sensitive coatings,
but more for coating of other materials.

Width is mentioned, but not (that I saw) length... on the other hand, how many meters can 300g coat anyway? !!

Again I have to wonder- if Kodak can do this, why, could they not have set up a small facillity to produce their own products... on a limited, seasonal scale.

Anyway, the missing link may be cost... how much do they think they can get away charging for coating 300g of something?

I imagine the charges will be significant...

What size undertaking do you envision actually being able to make use of these services?

Ray;

Read more closely. It says that they take up to 50 Liters per layer for a curtain coating that may be applied at several thousand feet / minute. And, the roll pictured was about 2000 ft long at a guess.

As for custom coating their own materials, remember that it requires more than just the coating machine, it requires the rest of the setup including emulsion making. And, add to that the fact that they have to make a profit. In this case, it is up to you to figure out how to make the profit!

So yes, now I know how to get my emulsions coated, but I would make no profit either AFAIK!

In fairness, I think it should be pointed out that Harman may also offer some similar services.

I guess the real missing link is what they charge for these services....
