This has appeared today. It seems the film (stills and motion picture) making part of Kodak is not part of the sell off. Good news.

The other thread that Kodak is selling its film has got to 50 pages. This one has managed two, now three posts. It seems very clear that Kodak will not be selling its motion picture film but in words of one syllable can anyone identify what still films will not be sold? Is it the whole current range of B&W and colour neg?

It sounds like very good news but it would be nice if a Kodak exec would simply say either: "All Kodak consumer film, I repeat all Kodak consumer film, will continue as Kodak products and will not be sold or stopped"

No-one these days seems to want to believe good news - its just not exciting enough and worse, kills all discussion.

However the good news announcers from the company in question could be a little plainer so no-one is in any doubt and the moderators could close all the doomsday threads and we could get back to discussing dull stuff about photography.

As I posted in the other thread, it appears that Kodak will no longer market or distribute their still film products to end users or retailers, nor will it provide the sort of end-user or retailer support it currently does.

And this sould be the final statement on what is essentially overly long, nauseating, conjectural hyped and hysterical discourse. Let Kodak be Kodak with or without film.

That is how I am understanding it. Kind of like how Fotokemika used to make ADOX's CHS line of film

That would be a quite positive news. The production of the still film will be almost lasted as long as the production of movie film. And the film QA will be assured as high quality as we know about.

Will it branded as Kodak film? May be, and may be not.

Branding, I bet they will do both. Freestyle currently sells house brand film that is coated by Kodak. Let's hope someone buys the Kodak still film line right...

I can't help but feel a little disappointed by this news. I would much rather see Kodak film become an Ilford than continue be part of a corporate monolith which is focused on other things. Personally, I'd still like to see the film line bought out and marketed/developed as it should be.

I do think Kodak, considering the circumstances have done an amazing job (Ektar, the new Portras), but I wonder how much of that is *despite* the management, not because of it.

I've seen some images taken on the new series of cine-film (Vision 3) and they are mind-blowing. That technology in C41 chemistry and without the rem-jet backing would be an instant hit, if marketed by someone who knows how to sell stuff.

Although their results seem to show different results from the two. I do agree with you though, Kodak is an icon, and they could probably market that a lot better.

This is just an observation, but I think it's interesting psychological point that in her statement this lady refers to "chapter 11", not chapter 11 bankruptcy avoiding the operative word.

I was under the impression that if anyone bought the Kodak Film division, then they would simply run the existing plant, I think to set up what Kodak has again would be waaay too much money for the size of the market, that was my impression anyway.

I can't imagine they will get much for it. It's the exact part that they have been intentionally destroying for the past several years, to the point where there is almost no value remaining. The new owner will have to do all the work of rebuilding the brand, the distribution network, the supply chain, and of making the world aware that it even still exists.

The price will rise, as other film prices have risen. That is natural.
