I'm thinking the same, but Michael Smith is working on getting another manufacturer to make a chloride paper, so there may be something after Azo.

Salt prints and albumen prints are silver chloride. I plan to do some experimenting in that area, but I surely hope Michael comes up with something.

It is somewhat unfortunate that Kodak's business decisions do not always receive the same amount of publicity. We "users" of analog materials fall into the area of "diminishing financial returns in investment".

However, hidden away in a small corner of the business section of Thursday's paper there was an announcemet about the very recent completion of Eastman Kodak's US$988 million acquisition of the Vancouver (Canada) based Creo inc.. a digital imaging company.

Of note..... Kodak has made more than US$3 billion in (digital) acquisitions since since 2003.

The Creo aquisicion was well publicized, but so what? I fail to see your point. Unless you are trying to say that they have been pissing away their money on digital and have seen little return on their investments.....is that it?

I'm willing to bet you'll fall in love with seeing the delicate tones your negatives will produce with Pt. Even though the Dmax of the print is nowhere near what Azo will do, I've never heard anyone ask me why my blacks aren't any blacker. Azo is nice but maybe you'll end up thanking Kodak for sending you to the beauty of Pt/Pd.

I talked to Michael last night. He is very excited about the new source of silver chorlide paper. Everyone hurry up and use the existing azo so we can get this new paper!

I'm willing to bet you'll fall in love with seeing the delicate tones your negatives will produce with Pt.

No doubt Mateo. No matter how the Azo thing goes, I will undoubtedly take a journey down the pt/pd one of these days.

With the assurance from Michael Smith that the Azo master rolls will remain, and knowing he is working on bringing an Azo replacement to the market, I will stay committed to Azo as my primary medium. Above all, I believe in the KISS principle, and working with Azo is about as painless as it gets. Always have a contingency though.

I went ahead and made a large purchase of AZO so I will be able to print with AZO for at least another year. I think I will purchase more soon.

I hope to offer more AZO prints (along with some of my platinum's) on Ebay in the future. It has become my main source of income, so it's very important to me that AZO is still made.

That's great and congratulations. My sales were good the first three months but have been virtually nil since March. Don't know if its me or the market. Probably a little of both. Going to keep trying though.

Have you raised your prices recently? I have learned that how you price your work reflects who buys your images. If you price is too low...many people buy them but only because they are cheep and a good deal, but then the buying stops. When I start prints at only 50.00, my output has been WAY too high...so I am raising my prices. By listing prints higher, you may not sell as many...but it is collectors and investors that buy your photography and are willing to pay a higher price.

I have things worked out now where EVERY print that I list...sells! Not only are they selling, but many people bid them up well above my 60.00 starting price. One 8x10 print just sold for $180.00!

Probably the most important tip about selling your photography on Ebay...is keep things fresh and new! I try to have tons of new work each month. People get tired of seeing the exact same thing. If a print does not sell, I will wait a month before trying again, and if it does not sell then... I know to start listing different stuff.

I would love to see some new work of yours listed on Ebay! I like the new closeups that you have been doing and would love to see more. I understand that most people have jobs and stuff and cannot spend ALL their time photographing thought. When shootings LF, it takes alot of time to produce lots of new work.

I surly hope things pick back up for you! I have always admired your work and would love to purchase one, but being a broke photographer.... hopefully I can in the future.

Thanks Ryan. I raised prices a while back but that didn't seem to work. Currently, I have two new ones posted; one went up tonight. Thanks for the encouragement and tips.
