Kodak indicator stop bath dilution is 63:1. I want to make a gallon at 3800mL per gallon. 3800/64=59.375mL stop bath to 3740.625mL water.
There's got to be an easier equation!! I guess it doesn't have to be a full gallon, I just happen to have gallon containers. Even a liter is an impossible measurement. Blerg.

Now the dilution is 64 to 1. Problem solved.

Just measure 2 ounces of the stop bath concentrare and pour it in a gallon jug and then fill up the jug with water. Itll be fine:smile:

Just make up six lots of 640ml:
630ml * 6 = 3780ml water
10ml * 6 = 60ml stop
640ml * 6 = 3840ml stop bath
If your 3800ml bottle can't take an extra 40ml, I'm sure noone'll notice...

The (USA) formula for Indicator stop bath has been 2 oz. to a gallon for, I don't know, forever. (which just happens to be 1:63) How hard is that?

Plus, it's stop bath. Absolute precision is not critical.

I mix mine up as I go along and I've always hated the 5ml/315ml routine
How long does mixed stop bath last?

I use half gallon jugs frequently especially when printing 11x14 or smaller and it's just 1oz per half gallon. Very simple and quick to make.

For Kodak products, always remember that the ratio equation is really a plus(+) sign. 63:1 is really 63+1, so just place 2 fluid ounces stop and add 126 ounces water to make a gallon. Crikey, just dump two oz stop into a gallon jug of distilled water, close enough.

I mix up a stock solution - 1 + 7. It keeps a long, long time, and a quart/litre of the stock goes a long way. In addition, the stock smells a lot better than the concentrate, and it is much less likely to stain or damage anything if you spill any.

Then before use, I dilute that stock a further 1 + 7 for full strength, or 1 + 15 for half strength (which I use regularly for film or RC prints).
