How long should Kodak HIE be developed in Ilfrod Ilfotec HC at 1+31 dilution, 20 C or 68 F degrees?

Digital truth dev chart recommends 5 min. Does this work in practice?

EI: I don't remember, but I believe it was shot at the standard EI.
I used a red #25 filter.
The film sat for 6 months or so after being shot, if that changes anything.

Is it better to overdevelop or underdevelop HIE if unsure?
And is fixing the same as for other B&W film? I know there is no anti-halation backing, right?
Agitation?

Thanks!

Try the times recommended for Kodak HC-110 dilution B. Ilford Ilfotec HC is a Kodak HC-110 spin-off AFAIK. D-76/ID-11 used undiluted for 11 minutes at 20C (68F) are what I used to use, although Kodak suggest 8.5 minutes.

Thanks. It says 5 minutes in HC-110 B. Does this sound right?

Dunno, I tried Ilfotec many years ago, but switched back to D-76. I never used it with HIE.

Is over development ok for HIE? Or is underdevelopment better with this film? I've never used it before, and want to decide whether to do 5 minutes or 7 minutes. The film did sit a few months after being shot, and had been stored in the freezer prior to shooting it (but it was slightly past-date).

Should be about 5 min. (@ 20C), but will vary based on how much IR was in your shots, filtration, etc. If you shot in the shade, or other places that are low in IR, you may need to push it to add contrast.
