Kodak HIE 400ft Bulk Roll on eBay... Questions!

Hell, I think with the name "HIE" attached to it, someone could sell 25 rolls on eBay even stating they're fogged and they'd be able to get $20 apiece; instantly breaking even and still having plenty left. Just what I would do, I wouldn't feel bad if I warned of it and people still bought it!

Only if it is posted with "rare", "hard to find" and the ever classy "minty".

What a gold mine if it's any good. I've shot some rolls that expired in 2001, no problems. On the other hand, I shot some Konica that was not much older, and at an EI orders of magnitude slower (and had been frozen since purchase!) but was horribly fogged. It's a crap shoot.

Could be fun if not for the high price tag!

I guess the upshot is, with that amount a person could probably learn to work with it, in some manner.

Well, the rest of the story: the guy had three MORE rolls of this stuff he auctioned off, and they went for $510, $568, and $594. I sure hope for the buyers' sakes this stuff was still usable...

He also had a 400 ft roll of Aerochrome (color IR) that went for $463.

And someone else had a lot of 4 25-packs of 4x5 HSI that went for $610 (that stuff had a better pedigree and was most likely in good shape still.)

A good month for selling large lots of old IR film at auction, apparently! Hoping more of it shows up out of folks' freezers as time goes on.

I really hope someone has the goodness to bulk load some onto 135-36 rolls and sell it for a reasonable enough price the buyers aren't hurting and they still make some profit. There may some HIE deep in the freezer at my favorite store, or someone might have bought it for dirt cheap. That's what I was told =O
