Hello,

Needing some cheapo colour film that doesn't break the bank now that my expired Fuji Z200 stash is depleted, I picked up some 24 exp Kodak Gold 200 in Tesco. Is there any way I can tell if this is the latest emulsion that was announced about this time last year, without processing and checking the edge code?

The film is fresh, dated 12/2009, in five-pack "value packs", made in USA and finished in Mexico, and comes in a two-colour orange-and-black canister that looks decidedly circa-1980!

Is there any code or something on the canister I may be missing or is it possible to make an educated guess based on the expiry date?

Thanks.

I just shot some for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how good this film looks for the price. I think I paid $6.88 for 4 rolls and if I recall correctly the box was similarly dated for 12/2009. The edge codes indicate "GB200-7", which I think is the newer version. I always avoided 200 speed films, but not anymore.
