I hate scanning and I only scan for digital "proofs". I discovered the KODAK FILM SCANNING APP for android and I am really pleased with it. It's not for for making poster sized prints, but for someone like me that wants a fast "proof" it's ideal!
This is a screen shot of the app with a 6x6 neg cropped. The neg is IN THE FILM SLEEVE and laying on my light table, there is no editing. My phone is a low end Samsung.

But how does it fare with colour negatives? How does it deal with white balance? Does it yield different results for different colour temperatures of light table?
I tried Helmut after seeing your reply. I found with my phone that Helmut was a bit more contrast than the Kodak app. At first the Helmut app looked like it had more features, but my experience with it didn't yield any advantage over the Kodak. Have you tried the Kodak app in comparison?
