Does anyone know how to decipher a Kodak Emulsion Code? What I am looking for is how to determine, from the Emulsion code, just how old some Kodak papers are.

The 'Kodak Stock Rotation Code' does not tell the date of manufacture but the date of expiration. It is the two-digit number ranging from '01' to '96' at the end of the batch number, telling the month of expiration. All you need to know when the 'odometer' turned over. Last time this was in Jan 1996 and again in Jan 2004.

I have no clue. Sorry. But if you had research coating numbers I could tell you what floor of B-59 they were made on and perhaps the names of the coaters. (Just kidding, but I really spent all of my time in research and development. We used a different coating numbering scheme.)

You can call the Kodak 800 # and they can probably help you out.

Thanks PE, I'll give them a call.

Ralph, thanks for the info, but on old AZO an 8 year rotation code probably won't help me out too much. I can't tell if it was made in the 90's or the 60's
