Is it OK to use a Kodak developer and stop and use an ilford fixer? I wouldn't normally do this, I just have some Ilford fixer I need to use up.

Thanks!

Absolutely!

I just finished using up a 5 litre bottle of Ilford Hypam fixer that worked perfectly with Kodak HC-110 and Kodak stop bath (for film) and Kodak Polymax T and Ilfostop (for paper).

The developers and fixers have no idea who made them. They react with the appropriate chemicals when the conditions are right. Use them without worry. I have used Kodak HC-110 with Ilford Rapid Fixer together for the past year without any incident.

No problem. You do not have to use only one manufacturer.

No problem at all. You can mix these processing chemicals. the working ingredients are the same whatever the manufacturer. Both Kodak and Ilford make very relisble products and they work well together. Done it many times.:smile:Actually,Kodak D76/D72 and Ilford Hypam is my standard for film and paper processing

You know, one of the first questions I ever had on this site was quite similar! It's funny to think of it now, since I often use three or four different manufacturers for film developing now (developer: Rodinal or Kodak; Stop, Fix, Washaid: Ilford; wetting agent: Fuji). So as other have mentioned, don't worry about it! You'll be fine.

No problem mixing chemicals from different manufactures. In fact my standard print developer is a 1:1 mixture of Ilford Multigrade and Kodak Dektol. Gives me good shadow detail with a nice Dmax.

Darwin

for what it's worth, this is not what I'd recommend; using one company's developer and another's fixer will work finebut, mixing developerseven from one company can yield unexpected results;formulating developers is tricky business and best left to the experts!
