Living here in Hawaii and not having much time to enter computer space....I was just told Kodak stopped manufacturing ALL darkroom chemicals....is this true? I was under the impression they were still making fixer, dektol, t-max developer, etc.

Not True.

More likely the dealer or distributor doesn't want to order them in by ocean freight, as you can't ship the liquid ones to Hawaii by air.

Not True. Kodak said they will stop making some sizes of packages and some of their less in demand chemicals but they still make lots.

GREAT! thank you, as i was running out of fixer....

Actually it is true, sort of.

Kodak sold it's darkroom chemistry line to Champion, who manufacture for Kodak under license.

Yea, but this kind of arrangement is extremely common in the manufacturing world. Look at the automotive industry, especially a few years ago. Mitsubishi and Chrysler had models that were duplicates of each other. Toyoto and GM had partnering arrangements. Many, many OEM items are produced by tertiary manufacturers and sold under the OEM brand name.

For that matter, look at the camera world. Yashica made all of the "modern" Contax cameras, and after they proved their mettle Zeiss farmed out much of the Y/C mount Zeiss glass to them. If you buy a Zeiss lens made in Japan where do you think it came from.

And the Japanese camera manufacturers farmed stuff back and forth like there was no tomorrow in the heyday of 135.
