Hello,
I am in the process of digitally archiving (e.g. scanning) a very large amount of Kodak consumer film negatives from the 1980s and early '90s. I've tried organizing the archives by approximate "date taken" but this isn't an easy task given the absence of records. Having previously worked in a one-hour photolab, I remember that Kodak appended their films with numbers to indicate newer emulsions. For example, I'm archiving a load of Kodak Gold 200-2 this week and my guess is that the negatives are from 1991, but I could be wrong.
At least if I know when an emulsion came out, I can discard the film having been shot *prior* to that date. Content is no clue in this case, sadly. Although if there were some photos of a 2 Live Crew concert, for sure I could date that within a year or two.
Does anybody know of a reference where I could find information about Kodak's timeline regarding emulsions? I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.
