This post is for all of you 5x7 color film people in the states. Marc Elliot of Color Services, Needham, Ma. is a Kodak distributer as well as the manager of New England's largest lab. Recently a few of us 5x7 users have joined forces to commit to buy a large quantity of Kodak 160nc 5x7 in 50 sheet boxes. As many of you are aware by now, this film has been discontinued in 5x7. However it is available as a special order item, direct from E.K. The hitch is that the order has to be for at least $10,000. Currently we are 15 boxes short of being able to fulfill this minimum order requirement. Is anyone interested in getting in on this? The price is $202 per box.

I've received some pm's regarding whether or not Color Services can ship the film. I've since confirmed w/ Marc that shipping is not a problem.

Wow. I thought 5x7 TMY was expensive.
Yes, you are correct, color film is more expensive than black and white. Nonetheless, $4/sheet for 5x7 is really not that bad. 4x5 is $2.50/sheet and about half the surface area of a sheet of 5x7 so you can do the math and see it's not such a bad idea to stock up now if 5x7 color neg. is your game.

What time frame are you looking at? Have you set a deadline for ordering?

As I mentioned in my initial post, we are trying to reach kodak's minimum order of 10k. The current commitments are for 7k, so we need commitments for 15 more boxes. As soon as we reach that amount the order will be placed. I spoke to Marc today and he said turnaround time should be 2-4 weeks. If you'd like to email him and commit to a box or more do so at colorservices@earthlink.net. Payment will be due not at the time of commitment but at the time the order is placed.
