Kodachrome - What's the oldest roll you have had processed successfully?

I was actually worried that it wouldn't, or would get lost. I just started in on some of the 10 rolls I bought, and already have got some fantastic moments I can't wait to see -- didn't want to endanger them.

I think the biggest challenge is that the drugstore may use an intermediary, which may result in slower service.

I'm into my 4th week waiting for two rolls through London Drugs, but I understand that that time can vary widely (one of the staff at my local London Drugs also shoots Kodachrome).

I doubt that it matters one jot to Dwaynes. They'll just add another 3 rolls to the monthly bill to Kodak, and in fairness they have had the money in the bank for several years earning interest

Just got back a roll of Kodachrome 64 (not the pro version) of about late 80's vintage. The price at Walmart jumped from $4.88 to $6.88 in the last 10 days, with both prices marked on my bag. The sales person said that the Fuji guy showed up yesterday with new, higher prices. The film is picked up by Fuji, then apparently sent on to Dwayne's. I'm getting a one week turnaround.

Interestingly, the black plastic slide boxes, mounts, imprinted labels, and date and number stamping/impressions are identical between the Kodachrome sent in through Walmart and the Astia I just got back from Fuji through another store.

So this has me wondering if Fuji is also contracting their E6 to Dwayne's along with the Kodachrome. I know they were shutting down some regional E6 labs within the last couple of years.

There was also a paper insert in the Kodachrome bag with multiple warnings about film fogging, using old film, etc with check boxes by each explanation, but nothing was checked and the slides looked great shot at EI 64.

I'm about to try processing a Kodachrome 40 super 8 roll I bought attic stored since god knows when. If you have a speed loss it gets a magenta cast because the re-exposures will be off. tough luck.

I found an unused box of Kodachrome Super8 also at a yard sale recently...dated "Process before Dec 1973".

If anyone wants to give it a try, I'd be happy to send it to them.

That's process K-12, so can't be processed anymore. (K-14 was introduced in 1974.)

I sniped a 2004 exp. K40 super 8 in an ebay lot with some 50D pro8mm stuff and some faster films. Can't wait to try it out! Also wittnerchrome sells final batch K40 slit double super 8 for outrageous prices.

So when was the last time Kodak produced 5x7 Kodachrome?

Anyone know if Kodachrome 25 Double 8mm expired 1979 is ok for K-14? If so, I'll give this roll a try some day and report back.

Kodachrome 25 is K-14, in any shape. Dwayne's can process it in any format it was ever made in (828, 135, 8mm, Super 8, or 16mm).

Large format Kodachrome went away shortly after the E-1 Ektachrome sheet films came out. That auction is Ektachrome 64.

As for Wal*Mart sending Kodachrome to Dwayne's by way of Fuji, that's because Dwayne's is now doing all Fuji branded E-6 processing. Presumably Fuji was historically under-bidding Kodak, which would explain why they would get the Wal*Mart work. (Only the low bidder gets to sell to Wal*Mart.)
