Because it's worth this much right? You'd have to be high as a kite to pay this for 1 roll of any film:

creating a false supplydemand is what is wrong

selling a dinosaur egg you found is probably worth a few bucks and should be bought by those who want the thing
What about a hot piece of ass? Shouldn't I be able to buy that
Pu**y scalper seems like fun job
Hornier you are the more expensive it gets
Then again
Not sure I'd want to handle their money

Seems to me the buyingselling of things in certain ways can be wrong because it has the ability to degrade social fabric faster you can repair it with your fatter wallet
If something is wrong with the way something is being sold the best way to correct it isn't to sell it again in a way likely to breed ..who the F* knows what

Have you ever bought a diamond?

Yeah yeah yeah, heard it before.

So what is the soloution? I'd love to hear it. Should everyone just be selling Kodachrome for $11.98 a roll just like B&H was? Then take a loss on Ebay and Paypal fees, plus the shipping or tax they originally paid for it, as well as their time to put it in a box and ship it?

I still don't see the problem. We live in a consumer driven market. If consumers are willing to pay a price for something; that's what it's worth. That's how business grow and paychecks get signed.

The Kodachrome situation is no different. It's in extremely limited supply and there is less than a year left to shoot it and get it processed. So it has to sell now and be used quickly. If there are 10,000 rolls in circulation and 20,000 people want them, it only makes sense to double the price.

By the same token, look at all the cheap darkroom equipment or film gear we all LOVE to grab up from Craigslist or the local paper, or Ebay. An enlarger that may have sold 10 years ago for $1,500 now sells for $150. People literally GIVE away complete darkrooms because the supply is high and the market is weak.

Perhaps next time you go buy a peice of used gear for a record low price, you should offer to give the seller two times what they are asking for it because it's only fair

It works both ways.

Ah. You're one of them.

I try to fathom how many "purists" of KM25, who quit Kodachrome en toto after KM25 was discontinued, negatively impacted sales of Kodachrome KR64 and KL200. Something tells me the idea was that people would migrate to KR64 was tempered by the KM25 purists who doggedly would rather have seen the rest of Kodachrome perish for taking their beloved KM25 away. Had they not quit, I wonder how sales for KR64 would have looked these past few years. It might have been significant enough to have given us a master roll or even three before the end. This is speculation, of course. But hearing this always tends to chafe me a little, especially since KM25 for me is not very usable except for still life shots and exceptionally, brightly lit subjects. I have bias toward KL200, because I like grain, lower-light scenes, and Kodachrome colour all wrapped into one.

Perhaps I wax a trifle dramatic. I actually shot a lot of Kodachrome 64 after 25 went away, and even some 200, which I never really liked. But I certainly wouldn't want any Kodachrome to go away. I loved all of it.

Some of us fall in love with every flavor of a type of film.

Others love only one or two flavors and no matter how they try, they can never like the rest of the flavors.

Fair enough. That helps drive the market.

Ebay should be a last resort. It was still available online by reputable sellers on Sunday. There is an AMAZON seller that was selling it (recently expired but stored in a freezer) at 5 rolls for $25.00, and is now selling it at 5 rolls for $35.00.
I have no problem with people wanting to pay a premium for a product, as it is their money.

Thanks! You can lead a photographer to film but you can't make him/her buy it. Many would rather complain about scalping than actually purchase the film. There has been Kodachrome available at prices lower than B&H that has just been sitting there.

You see that by entering the quantity of 999 in the box and adding it to your cart. If they have any less than that, they will tell you how many they have.

Ah, good to know. But I seem to recall having partial backorders with them with no indication at checkout, so I assume it doesn't update in realtime.

What did you expect? Where there is money to be made there are those willing to invest. No, I didn't buy any. I don't shoot KC.
