Kodachrome newbie question.

I got my first and last 5 rolls in the mail today.
I have two basic and probably stupid questions.
Because it is slide film do the exposures have to be spot on like E-6 film?
Its Iso 64 but its expired should I try and shoot it at 50 or just bracket everything?

Yes, exposure needs to be spot-on. How expired is it? If no more than a few years, I would expose at 64 and bracket 2/3 stop in either direction, depending on the scene. If it is long expired and hasn't been frozen, I would toss it and start looking again.

I've shot film expired by 5 years and more...it was fine.

YMMV of course but I would shoot it all at precisely 64 ISO and yes, exposures have to be spot on like all slide film. Expose for highlights, with slides.

Just to repeat the obvious, we are now counting down the days left for the running of the world's last remaining operational Kodak K-14 Process film processing machine at Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas, USA (www.dwaynesphoto.com/). The K-14 Process is not something that you can do at home. We have until the end of this month, December 31st, at the end of the year 2010, to get any remaining Kodak Kodachrome slide flim in to Dwayne's for processing. After that, we will have only a tangible bit of history to remind us of what Kodachrome was, while we listen to the voice of Paul Simon.

After Christmas, get your exposed Kodachrome to Dwayne's for the final processing.

2007 is fine. Shoot at 64, bracket in difficult light.

Kodachrome film unlike other color films contains no couplers. They are added during development. What you have is essentially a slow B/W film. Therefore it does not age as fast as other color films. So it's probablly still good if not exposed to higher than normal temperatures..

The final date for receipt of Kodachrome by Dwaynes is actually noon on December 30th. (Not being pedantic, but, on their website, they seem adament about this, and Dec 31st is also a holiday in US.)

It's fine, I'm still shooting Kodachrome 25 at 25, and that's been expired for 10 years.

Shoot it at 64, and get it to Dwayne's as soon as you're done.

As for the 30th vs the 31st, I'd get it there before the 30th to be safe, but originally I think they said December 10th, then it was the 30th, and there was at least one interview where the 31st/end of year was mentioned. To be safe assume it's still noon on the 30th.

Just sent them another 5 rolls, got 6 left, heading to the Grand Canyon soon. Have forms pre-typed, as well as USPS priority small flat rate boxes all ready to go.
