Hi everyone,

I'll be taking a trip to the Holy Land later this month, and while I will mainly be shooting B&W (something I understand is relatively easy to find), I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to find Kodachrome in Israel (Tel Aviv or Jerusalem). Also, will I be able to use the Lausanne address for the mailers?

Thanks!

I don't know specifically the availablility of Kodachrome in Israel, but, as a general rule, I would take with me whatever film I expect to need when holidaying abroad. I wouldn't rely on being able to purchase much beyond the basic Kodak/Fuji colour negative anywhere nowdays.

I'm in the U.K. myself, and Boots (one of the large UK chain stores, long-established as a "first-stop" for many people for photography and D&P) only stocks Kodachrome in the largest branches. When I bought some a few weeks ago, the few films on the shelf were all very near expiry date.

I'm sure that you can post prepaid films to Lausanne from anywhere, if your return address is in Europe...during a recent holiday, I posted films while away, and the processed slides arrived home safely.

Hope you have a great trip and get fantastic pics!

Further to my previous post, I've just noticed that you're in Canada.

In that case, I would check direct with Kodak, as their website does say Lausanne is "for European customers".

There are phone numbers for Dwaynes and for Lausanne on their website.
The Lausanne one is a freephone one, at least from the UK. PM me if you'd like me to enquire from here.

Thanks for your advice; however, since I have concluded that I am unlikely to be able to find Kodachrome there anyway, I will just bring along my North American rolls (sans mailers), and have them processed when I get home - no free developing for me

Aluk, where are you in Canada? I can get Kodachrome pretty easily in Montreal.

I would buy your Kodachrome and bring with you to Israel, I am assuming you are taking a direct flight so you don't have to worry about repeated xray exposure. I would however just send direct to Dwanes.

Will do. X-rays are the least of my worries. From what I know, it gets extremely humid in the coastal areas (on top of the 40+ temps.)

@mhv - I am in Toronto, and so can get it without too much difficulty (most of the time). Nonetheless, I do travel quite a bit to Montreal - any camera shop in particular you think I should step in to when I am there next week?
