Can I, or should I develop this in an ilford multigrade developer or stick to a kodak type.

Hi,
Ilford multigrade should work fine if the paper is in good shape. However, given Kodak's "retirement" from the B+W paper business this is likely to be old(er) and may require additional measures to prevent / control fog. I hope your paper is free from fog.

If the paper does have a fog issue you could try Liquid Orthazite, a commercial preparation meant to address this issue. If this is not available in your area you can prepare a 2% solution of benzotriazole and add it to your developer. Most literature I have read suggests starting with additions of the 2% solution in the range of 1+63 - 1+31. I have never found this to be enough and found success with much higher amounts. (YMMV) Remember that adding the restrainer will cause a reduction in apparent paper speed. You will need to test for an increase in exposure and adjust the development time to maintain 4x your emergence time.
Best.

Good Evening, Momo,

Just a word of encouragement about the age of the paper: I am currently using 8 1/2 x 11 Kodabrome RC which has to be at least ten years old as my contact sheet paper. (I was lucky enough to find a 250 sheet box on E-Bay in 2001; the extra size makes for easier contacting, and I'll miss it after using the few remaining sheets I have.) The paper does show a bit of fogging and would not be my choice for prints, but it's still fine for contact sheets.
