Yes, there is actually a boy band in Japan (where I currently reside) with the above name, or more correctly, Kis-My-Ft2 (close enough). I'm pretty sure the band isn't an ode to Nikon's solid performer of yesteryear, but who knows? I have a pair of Nikomats (the Japanese version of Nikkormat) in the usual black. Interestingly, they have different focus screens, but are otherwise identical. Both are working well, apart from the younger one having a 'jumpy' meter that nevertheless works when it decides to calm down (no, I don't kiss it!). I've heard it's the resistor ring that needs cleaned, and can be done without releasing a dreaded 'spring bomb'. Anybody here that knows how to do it or can point me in the right direction?

Thank you for the replies.! Seems like I should attempt a simple fix that doesn't require too much disassembly. The meter sometimes behaves so it it might be just a little bit of built up crud -- perfectly understandable in a camera that is 50 years old.

I have an FT-2 with an intermittent jumpy meter. On mine, it seems this happens if I don't have the meter switch (pulling the advance lever away from rest position until it stops against the mechanism) all the way in place, suggesting the contacts in the switch instead a resistor ring. I'd surely check that before starting any disassembly.

Thanks Donald, a good tip. I'll check it out.
