Kiev prism finder

I just got a Keiv prism finder I believe it is and older one.
It had no batteries in it and not sure what it uses. I searched the web and still came up with no answers. I could not find this meter viewfinder on Keiv's web site. I found ones that look close but not the same. any help would be great

it has a dial on the side with a green and a red dot
is one on and the other off? I have not put any batteries in it as of yet so I have not tried the different positions. Iam going to try it on my Hassy this weekend if I get the right batteries for it

I purchased the same prism about 5 years ago.As I recall it took an obscure 6V Russian battery. I believe I tried 3 silver oxide batteries without success.

I have two of the newer finders taking three 1.5 silver oxide cells. On the Kievaholic web site you find instructions on calibrating these meters, in case they need it.
It looks like the color switch is on-off. Mine use push buttons. On the large dial, be sure to key in the max aperture of the taking lens opposite the reference mark. It is set at F/4 in the fleabay picture. With meter on, I balance out the read out in the viewfinder; then read the f/stop ss combos on the dial. Oh, of course, set the ASA/ISO. Since that one was made in 1983, it might use Soviet GOST numbers. DIN works, though.

That is what I did with the Kiev finder I bought a few years ago. And since I spotmeter anyway, it was no loss. My old Kiev served me well until the camera and tripod on which it was mounted fell over on a mountaintop in Iceland. Rock 1, Kiev finder 0.

Thanks for all the help!!! I just opened up the battery cover and relized there is a plastic insert in there. It must have the battery adapt to be able to use the three battires not the Russian battery. So I will go to the store today and purchase the three battires and hopefully it will work I will let everyone know how I make out

Well I went out and bought the three A76 batteries and when I got home and tried to install them there was room for one more battery makes sense 4 x 1.5= 6volts. So back to the store to purchase the one more battery. I put them in as what it says on the Keiv instructions + side to the cover and when I screwed the cover back on they were still a little loose. So I got a Mini Mag flaslight and took out the spring in the back and that seemed to work.
all set to go turned on the meter and nothing!!! So I was ready to use it as a view finder only But thinking I thought let me try the batteries in + side down and - against the cover. It was a little tricky with the spring but I got it and turned it out and wow it works. So I can't wait to try it out tomorrow as it is night now. I paid $33.00 I hope I got a bargin and it works properly
