Recently I got some Kiev 88 film backs in miscellaneous nonworking condition. Would like to try my hand at rebuilding them. I came across some tutorials and video on internet but those only deal with removing the "face" cover not complete dissasemble (getting at the gears and film advance system.

Do any of you have info about how to dissasemble this film back?

Thanks in advance.

The 88 backs are probably rather close copies of the 'old' Hasselblad 12 mag (i.e. not the A12!). Suggest you search the mag. 12 on youtube?

My Kiev 88 back is developing issues. Here is what I found.

There is a repair manual https://learncamerarepair.com/downloads/pdf/Kiev-88-Repair-English.pdf but it's not exactly explicit.

To gain access to the mechanism:

1) Remove the film insert;
2) Remove the winding knob: lift circular leather cover, remove screw, keyed washer, knob and sprung washer;
3) Remove cover plate inside the back (where the insert goes): lift one edge of the curved angled bracket and wiggle the plate out (might be sticky because of oil);
4) Remove the top and bottom screws along the centreline inside (the bottom screw is hidden by the cover plate);
5) On the frame where the dark slide goes, remove the two screws nearest to the wind knob. The cover should lift off giving access to the mechanism.
