[Kiev 60] Making a diopter for the TTL prism

Hello,

I own a Kiev 60 with a ttl prism, and I'd like to make a diopter for it.
As I understand, I should let an optician make a round lens for my prescription, and cut it to fit the round hole that one can see after removing the eyepiece? (see image)

One can find diopter correction lenses for cameras on the internet. Sometimes they only have a part number, but others have the diopter correction indicated. I got one branded Contax with the correct strength and glued it (silicone glue) to the eyepiece cup holder. I removed the rubber part for the picture. The lens is not actually glued to the camera, it is glued to the eyecup holder that unscrews from the camera. So it is not a permanent modification.

When I list the eyepiece lens off my Bronica ETRSi's AE III prism I ended using the eyepiece off a Nikon SLR with a correct strength diopter off another Nikon glued to it .
The original part is impossible to buy and mine being lost in a field , meant I had to do a bit of trail and error .
Get the round Nikon diopter of the correct strength and you'll be fine .
Information on these are readily available online .

Here's some information on Pentacon Six diopter options. They may work for the Kiev. In fact, I use a Kiev prism on my P6. A lot of the parts are interchangeable.

For several RFs I modified a Nikon rectangular diopter DK 20c ($15 -- come in various corrections, depending on your prescription) which normally slides on the Nikon (also works on the OM 1 or 2 cameras) eyepiece. I removed the lens and cut off the tabs (on the side and top of the mount) with a hacksaw blade, making it much thinner, reinstalled the diopter lens, and put on a few strip of removable thin foam tape near the edges, and stuck it to the camera. Perhaps that will work for you. See attached photo.

I went to optician to make a diopter lens for my sight for my PME51.
It was really challenging for them because technology used by then and the glass needed was about +12, very thick, he had to trim the borders to make it fit into the spot.
Good thing he had my eye data and he added the astigmatism for my left eye.
Now I can focus without glasses and I can see the whole frame in the prism, with glasses I was missing the borders and I had to move to read the EV values.
If you can find the original part, go for it
