After around 15 shots, the film in my Kiev 4a jams. Looking at it, the film has been pushed down between the cogs and the takeup spool, kinking the film and generally jamming things up. I know this is probably due to the spool clutch needing to be adjusted. So, I looked at the Russian service manual which I downloaded, and it says to turn the screw inside the takeup fork. But it's tight: there's no adjustment possible. So, I took the screw out to see if a simple clean would help. But the bits are different to those shown in the Russian service manual. The manual shows, from the screw upwards:
Screw, washer, spring, fork, washer.
My camera has:
Screw, washer, non-metallic (maybe felt) washer, fork, non-metallic washer, washer.
I assume the two felt washers provide the friction coupling on the fork, and I can see how having a spring in there somewhere would make it way more adjustable. So, has mine been serviced incorrectly sometime in the past?
I must have bought this camera around 40 years ago. Maybe that's the reason it's been in a box all this time... So the question is, what/where/how could I get a spring, if one is indeed necessary?
