My name is Dominique Filippi. I'm a french guy living in Wellington, New Zealand since 2002
I have always enjoyed film photography however my passion for film photography was very close to end in 2004, after my local lab did an awful job developing 20 rolls of velvia I took during a life opportunity field trip. It was quite a financial effort for our young family to get those slides. All the rolls were ruined, covered with thick droplets of chemical... I really thought at this time it was the end of film photography for me and as I did not have any interest in digital photography, I did not touch a camera during 5 years.
I have rediscovered the joy of film photography in 2009 when I bought a 5DmkII, my first DSLR ever. Nice camera indeed but very quickly I was disappointed by the B&W pictures I took with it and I finished by using photoshop plugins to mimic famous film emulsion... It was simply not right. One month after I bought the 5D, I started to look on ebay for a medium format camera.
Few years of GAS later, I'm an happy photographer who enjoy shooting mostly film except for wildlife photography where I prefer to use my DSLR.
My favorite cameras? The zorki 4k (the only 35mm I use now), the mamiya super 23, the mamiya 7ii, the moskva 5 and my old linhof 5x7.
