Keystone Cine Projector belt tightening

Hello all, I got a Keystone K-75 8mm Projector for $5 at a flea market, and I'm trying to tighten the belt. Can someone help me?

Most projectors of that era require you get a new belt, not tighten it.

Is it rubber or metal? Is it round or flat?

The easiest thing to do may be a rosin type belt dressing to make it grip.

3or 4 years ago I was rehabbing (actuallly the project is still half done) a eumig or something of the european ilk 8mm projector capable of slow motion playback, and the old rubber drive belt was no longer servicable. I found a UK outfit that sold me one, and letter posted it to me for under $10 all up. I got it about a week later, and it worked like a charm. it was a web site with some sort of name like 'projector belts'

I am still working out the kinks, but I have it protoptyped to use a large convex thatrical light optics component, along with a reduced wattage bulb, and then looks straight in at the film in the gate (filed the gate out to full frame) with my video camera. The next step is to get the computer software revved up to capture frames from the camera. The long term scheme is to use a microswitch driven by an available cam that strikes once per frame advance. Use the microswithc to fake mouse click, to tell software to caputre the frame.

Once I get it working, then I can author some dvd's, and then get to keep all of the 8mm movies for the relatives, without having to cart the projector around at holiday times when we see them.

I can't even get it open. I took out all the screrws on the front plate, and when that didn't do anything, I removed every screw on the exterior of the projector. Still, no luck. Is there a trick to it that I don't know, or is it just kind of warped in there? I'm kind of afraid of forcing it open the way I usually open stuff, because I really don't want to have to buy a new bulb.

might be that to avoid rattling there were cork or some other sort of gasket under the outline of the plates that after all of these years might have effectively turned to a sort of glue. Try to find an inconspicuois edge, and gently apply a bit of prying force on a likley looking assembly.
